Who are you? Where do you come from? What have been your experiences with reading and writing? What do your classmates and I need to know about you as a reader and writer? What are your strengths and weaknesses as a reader and writer? How do these practices intimidate or excite you?
-My name is Korey McDermott I am 19 and my birthday is on Halloween. When I was born my family lived in Faucett for two years until my mom became pregnant with my little brother to which we then moved to St. Joseph. My mom, brother, and myself have lived in the same house ever since. I went to Pickett Elementary, then continuing onto Truman Middle School, finishing at Central High School. Every year there was always some kind of book reports to be done but every year we found the easiest way to do them. I am not a fast reader, and sometimes it takes me longer to think of a topic to write about. My weakness is that I do not like to do either but my strengths of writing is that once I get started I could write until I finish.

questions
Being in English 100 has taught me to be a better writer, with the help of Ms. Chastain. I learned better grammar, sentence fluency, how to write in MLA format, how to write a work cited page, and many more. Blogging was hard to remember to check for the homework because I did not have a piece of paper in front of me telling me how to do or what to do. But blogger was helpful because if I did not understand how to do the homework I could look at the teacher’s example or I could look at another student’s page, and see how they did it. Blogger was made it easier to turn in the homework because I was able to just post or send it in, but if I had to turn in a hard copy I would have to make sure I have ink in the printer, and I had to be sure that I did not lose the homework. Blogger was like a journal the only thing different was that we had a specific topic to write about where in a journal you it is free write. Changes in the tasks papers would be able to turn the papers in over the computer where it would be easier for the teacher to make comments and easier for the students to read what the teacher had to say. For the small journal entry to make those easier would be having questions that almost every student would be able to relate to the author, or what the author wrote about.

The lonely Good company of books
I don't read to often and if i do read it takes me awhile to find a book that keeps my interest. Once i find that sort of book I am not able to put it down or focus on anything else. When I was in elementary we had to do bookreports, me and my friend would read the back of the book and write a short summary over that, and as I got into middle school I found myself asking my friends what they read about the night before. The summer before I started high school, the last thing on my mind was reading, but I found a book that I couldn't put down. This book was apart of a series that I started and would finish a book in a day or to. So I think my experienc with books is similar to rodriguez's.

Before this course, what did you anticipate?
I thought that english would be alot of reading and writing of things I didn't really want to read or write about. We do read alot and we have writing assigments, but when we go over them in class i understand how im suppose to put together what to write. I didn't think we would be getting help like we do in class. I also didn't think i was going to understand most of the homework, but the teacher helps us alot so that we understand what to do and how to do it.

task three analyze
For task three I am not for sure what to write about, but I thought about using Kozol's book. I never had problems through school, but I was going to write about a teacher that was always there for his students. He looked out for everyone like: his football players, students, teachers, anyone he knew or saw. He taught everyone not only what it's like to work hard but also said every day how important it is to get an education. A lot of people, like me are where they are today because of what they were taught. He was a coach/teacher and someone everyone looked up to.

Task-two
-My cousin had to have half his brain cut in half, so this made it difficult for him to learn. He is now 25 and has the brain of a 12 year old.
-What were some of his struggles through school, because he didn't learn as fast as the other students and when I don't understand something in class, I stress, so I would just like to know how he got through school.
-Who influenced him through school, because I know he found someone to look up to and would go to them if he ever needed anything.
-Finding the right questions to ask, or finding something that he wants to talk about.
-I don't know if all get a lot of answers beacuse he doesn't always understand what you are asking.
-I don't really have any questions at the moment.
